MOUSE AND KEYBOARD TRAINING

COMPUTER BASIC
If you know how to use the mouse and the keyboard, but you have
no idea what to do next; then this is the class for you. You
will learn basic computer operations, windows environment,
how to save information, desktop, and more. This is a very
basic computer class to get you familiar with how the
computer works and the terms associated with computers.
LIBRARY ONLINE CATALOG
You will learn how to use the Library’s Online Catalog and how to access
your library account. This class will teach you the basics of searching
for items, locating items within the library,
accessing your personal library account, and much more. The
library is a treasure waiting to be found!
LIBRARY ONLINE DATABASES
Are you looking for information, but just can’t seem to find it in
the library. You will learn how to use different databases offered by the
library. The databases are free for you to use at the library or in the
comfort of your home. You will learn the basics of the following databases:
NC LIVE, Ancestry, Heritage Quest, Learning Express, World Book Online,
and Bloom’s Literary Reference. These databases are a wealth of information;
don’t pass up the chance to learn about them.
Microsoft Excel I
In this class, you will learn the basics of spreadsheets. You
will learn vocabulary, how to create formulas & functions, formatting
techniques, and more. Practice exercises will be given so you
can apply what you have learned.
Microsoft Excel II
This class demonstrates some of the more difficult tasks that you can
do with Excel. Some topics include: headers & footers, comments, creating
drop down lists, filtering data, data entry forms, and more. You will
have practice exercises to apply what you have learned. Practice exercises
will
be given so you can apply what you have learned.
Microsoft PowerPoint I
You will learn the basics of presentation software. You will learn
the components of an effective presentation, how to create a presentation,
custom animation, and more. Practice exercises will be given so you can
apply what you have learned.
Microsoft PowerPoint II
This class demonstrates some of the more difficult tasks
that you can do in PowerPoint. Some topics include: customizing
masters, creating audience handouts, creating action buttons, timing and
rehearsing
your presentation, and more. Practice exercises will be given
so you can apply what you have learned.
Microsoft Word I
You will learn the basics of word-processing including: creating, formatting,
and printing a simple document. You will also become familiar with
the toolbars and learn important vocabulary. Practice exercises will
be given so you can
apply what you have learned.
Microsoft Word II
In this class, you will learn more advanced word processing
techniques including: templates, wizards, envelopes and labels, dropped
caps, shortcuts, and more. There are many great features that are “hidden” in
Word that the average user might not know. You will have practice exercises
to apply what you have learned.
Web Surfing 101
Learn the basics of “surfing” the net. You will learn how
to get online, web addresses, basic terminology, and much more. You will
have practice exercises to apply what you have learned.
Web Surfing 102
You will learn more advanced Internet techniques. Learn how to efficiently
search for information, how to judge a website, internet safety, and more.
Yahoo Email
Do you need an email address? You will learn how to set up your own
account and learn the basics of email: how to compose messages, how
to send attachments, set up an address book, delete unwanted messages,
spam, and
more.
